Welcome to my World!
– – – Bio Here if you’d like to know a little about me

Thank you so much for joining me on my journey to a softer, more slowly paced life. This blog is meant to inspire one to live his, her, or their own life in the most authentic way possible, even if it differs from what people have known you as your whole life. Even if it’s just minor tweaks to settle in and truly love yourself. Be gentle with yourself, find out who you are, and proceed accordingly.

My Spiritual Journey will cover my journey as a Muslim revert. I will discuss my journey from a hijabi to a niqabi. I will detail my triumphs and my struggles, Alhamdulillah. I will probably talk about my other spiritual journeys, starting from being raised as a Pentecostal Christian to researching Eastern Religions, Wicaanism, as well as my journey in the Catholic Church. I will discuss the struggles of being a revert in the United Stetes. I will discuss my struggles with reverting my mind to focus on my deen rather than this dunya.

Disclaimer: I am not a Muslim scholar, I have not been formerly educated in Islamic juriprudence, and I am not an expert on living the best life possible. Insha’Allah, my journey will help you discover that we are all works in progress, and Allah (swt) knows my intentions. May my mistakes be that of my own and not defer people from their deen, Insha’Allah.

This will simply be recipes, photos of meals I’ve prepared (or even my wonderful husband’s creations). I’ve journeyed to many countries throughout my life, as well as lived in several different regions in US, and I feel as though my palette may not be as refined as Gordon Ramsey, I know good cooking and I know how to “call upon my ancestors” to season a dish just right. Come join me on my journey of learning to enjoy food as a hobby as well as a service to my family.

A part of self-love is rediscoverying what brings me joy. What do I like to do? What have I always wanted to do and have never had the chance to accomplish? What does the world look like when I slow down, and let myself experience the moment in that moment, without a schedule racing through getting through the experience and moving on to the next. What is it like to accomplish something and just sit there, basking in a job well done and not worrying about the next project, or what’s for dinner, or whether or not I switched out the laundy. This will focus on how I am actually living my soft girl era, my slowed down life. How I am turning away from the screen as a death scrolling mechanism, but turning it into a living journal of my life that my children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren may be able to view and remember I was here.

I love tapping into my feminine, demure side. After spending my entire life somehow associated with the military (growing up as a dependent until I was 15, joining the Army National Guard, and then transitioning into the Air Force a few years later) while attaining my bachelor’s degree, being a dual-military family (which means working full time/military exercises/and a deployment), and generally spending my free-time as a mother/wife/cook/house cleaner/and chauffeur had made my life completely consumed with the care of others. In my marriage with Hamza, the responsibilities are evenly placed, my mental and physical health are a concern of someone else other than myself, and I am given the space to breathe. There was no show for the public, no fake smiles, a real space to sit down and relax all the muscles and find myself, and a part of that was actually caring for my physical being. I know it’s a huge trend right now, but I LOVE the beauty products, I love smoothing on creams and lotions, experimenting with new products, and trying out different styles and types of make-up. Join me as I learn to actually take the time to pamper myself, and maybe you can incorporate some into your routine. Remember, it’s not about doing a it perfectly, it’s about taking the time to love yourself and do something that is literally just for you.
